Ohio - Nerdiest State

I came across this map of shame - you've probably seen it. It shows which states are worst at what. Some are fairly benign other are wretched. But in light of my Summer Reading post/Library Rant a couple weeks ago, I'd like to point out that Ohio is the nerdiest state based on having the most library visits per capita (link).
Unlimited library access at work!

Indiana is the least green state, which I have to say, would not have been my first thought. We have the stupidest city according to some report a few years ago (go, Ft. Wayne!), but with all the Amish using buggies and solar panels I wouldn't considered us to be the least environmentally friendly.

What's your state worst at? Were you surprised?

  1. I'd love to live in the nerdiest state! I just live in the worst one for taxes, unfortunately. Seems so boring compared to Washington and North Dakota!

  2. Being from Indiana, I agree with that. My university had recycling bins everywhere, but most others do not. I drive a Jeep along with many others, and that is definitely not good for our environment. I'm pretty surprised by some of the others.

  3. Deepshade, yeah, the worst taxes is pretty boring. Though I suppose I'd go for worst taxes over most rapes.

Mandy, I don't know about all of Indiana, but the area I live in is a bunch of recycling maniacs. You can't find many public trash cans, but you can recycle almost anything anywhere! And everyone rides bikes. I hate those bike riders.

But it is a big state and I've only lived in a little piece of it.

  7. I already knew that I live in the fattest state - LOL. On top of that, my region is the fattest in the state and I live in the largest town in the region making it the fattest town in the nation! We do have some really good food around here though so no wonder!

  9. Angela, yeah, being fat isn't as bad as being hideously violent. Plus, you look pretty trim in your avi, so you probably stand out in a good way :)

  10. Yes, Melody some places are way too crowed. I just moved to Hemet, CA 1 1/2 yrs ago It's a valley we're surrounded by mountains and I love it here it's a small town no need for freeways and I've got everything I need in here! I guess you just have to make the best of it.

I actually made a post about Hemet a couple of months ago check it out if you would: http://moncy3.blogspot.com/2010/11/city-of-hemet.html

  14. Paige, yikes! You might want to invest in some dead-bolts.

Jdavis, there should be! But then all the states would argue about it.

Alyssa, that is a bummer :(
